  • Julia

    Julia Meyer

    Vet

    Originally from Germany, in 2015 Julia graduated from Szent Istvan University in Hungary. She spent time in mixed and small animal practices in New Zealand, Australia, Ireland and Essex before joining us in 2020. She loves the variety of her role and enjoys exploring the East Lothian countryside with her dog, Freckles.

    Ruth Scott

    Vet

    Ruth graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 2003 and worked in various practices across the UK before settling in East Lothian with her family.
    She originally joined the Village Vets’ family in 2019 having a short hiatus to locum throughout Scotland, before returning to us in 2024.
    Ruth is trained in acupuncture and has a particular interest in pain management, especially in our older patients.
    Outside of work, Ruth enjoys wild swimming, running, (you may have seen her running through the stress of Longniddry during the Scottish half marathon) and climbing Munros with her daughter and 2 border collies.

    Joanne McKellar

    Nurse

    Joanne joined our team as a student veterinary nurse and graduated in 2022. She has had various jobs since leaving school, including volunteering in animal shelters around the world, but her heart has always been set on veterinary work! In her free time, she loves playing video games and spending time with her Labrador, Molly.

    Pauline Sloan

    Receptionist

    Pauline studied animal behaviour and welfare at university and joined the Village Vets team in 2014. She has worked with animal charities in America and Asia, including three years in Malaysia, where she hand-raised tigers, hyenas and civets! A car boot sale enthusiast, she also enjoys reading J.R.R Tolkien books, socialising with friends and rescuing call ducks.

  • Kirstin Gorey

    Kirstin Gorey

    Deputy Practice Manager

    Kirstin began her career in a small animal practice in Edinburgh in 1998, where she qualified and became Head Nurse in 2003. She has a keen interest in radiography and loves getting to know our clients and their furry friends. She joined our team in 2014 as a Receptionist and Veterinary Nurse and since 2020 has been our Deputy Practice Manager.

    When she is not working she is an avid sports fan and loves walking in East Lothian with her husband.

  • Kirsten

    Kirsten Ogilvie

    Practice Manager

    Kirsten qualified as a vet nurse in 1990. She worked in several practices for many years before trying something new, working eleven years at a veterinary practice management computer software company, before joining our team in 2012 as our practice manager. When she’s not at work, she enjoys traveling in her camper van, spending time with friends and family, listening to music, taking photos and gardening.
